Why we ask you to sign in
Everything on this site is free. We ask for an account so we can report to Morgan State and our funders how many teachers, schools and students the program reaches, and so you can save your progress.
What we collect

| Students | A username, a password, a first name or nickname, and your grade band. School and district are optional. We never ask students for an email address, phone number or home address. |
| Teachers | Name, email, password, school or organization, district (or state), type of organization, grades taught, subject (optional), about how many students you teach, and how you heard about us (optional). |
| School leaders | The same as teachers, plus your job title, and how many students your school or site serves. |
While you are signed in, we also record:
- when you sign in;
- which pages, lessons and files you open or download, and which stories and games you use;
- quiz results, badges and games you finish, so they appear on your dashboard;
- questions you send through Ask a Mentor, and the answers we give.
The Question of the Week on the homepage can be answered without an account. We store only your answer and a random number kept in your browser so each browser votes once. If you are signed in, the vote is linked to your account.
How we use it
- To give you access to materials and show your progress on your dashboard.
- To report totals (for example, the number of teachers by district, or downloads per lesson) to Morgan State University and our funders. Reports use totals, not individual names.
- To answer mentor questions and requests to bring the program to your school.
- To tell teachers and school leaders about CEAMLS professional development and events. You can ask us to stop at any time.
We do not sell personal information, show advertising, or use it to train AI models.
Children's privacy
Student accounts are designed to collect as little as possible: a username instead of an email, and no contact details. Children under 13 should create an account with a parent, guardian or teacher. A parent, guardian or teacher may ask us to see or delete a student's information by emailing us with the student's username.
Who handles your data
- Supabase stores accounts, activity and questions, and sends account emails (confirmation and password reset) to teachers and school leaders. Passwords are stored in scrambled (hashed) form; we cannot see them.
- GitHub Pages hosts the website and its files.
- Google Fonts supplies the site's typeface, so your browser contacts Google when pages load.
Your browser also stores your sign-in session and your accessibility settings on your own device.
Keeping and deleting data
We keep account information while the account is in use. Email us to delete your account; we delete the account and its activity within 30 days. Totals already reported (for example, "120 teachers in 2026") stay in those reports.
