Last updated: July 2026. This is a plain-language policy for the K–12 AI Universe website (k12ceamlsmsu.com), operated by the Center for Equitable AI & Machine Learning Systems (CEAMLS) at Morgan State University.
What we collect
When you create an account or sign in, we collect only what you provide:
- Teachers & school leaders: name, email address, password, school/organization, and role details (grade/subject or job title).
- Students: a username (not a real email), password, and optional grade band and school. We intentionally do not collect students' email addresses or personal contact information.
- Usage: the number of times you sign in, so we can report program reach. We do not track your browsing across other websites.
How your password is handled
Authentication is provided by Supabase, a secure third-party service. Your password is hashed (irreversibly scrambled) and stored by Supabase — CEAMLS never sees or stores your password in plain text.
How we use your information
- To give you access to curriculum, tools, and your personalized dashboard.
- To measure and report program reach (e.g., how many educators and students we serve) to our funders and university.
- To invite educators to relevant professional-development opportunities.
We do not sell your data, show you third-party advertising, or share your personal information outside CEAMLS/Morgan State program reporting, except where required by law.
Children's privacy
We designed student accounts to minimize data from children: usernames instead of emails, and no request for personal contact details. If you are under 13, please involve a parent, guardian, or teacher before creating an account. If you believe a child has provided us information you'd like removed, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Where your data is stored
Account data is stored in our Supabase database. The website itself is hosted on GitHub Pages. Downloadable curriculum materials are hosted on Google Drive. These providers process data on our behalf under their own security terms.
Your choices
- You can sign out at any time from the header.
- You can request that we delete your account and associated data by emailing us.
- You can use most of the public site without an account.
